Il ciclismo è sempre stato il mio hobby, soprattutto la tecnologia ciclistica. Ho iniziato a costruire biciclette reclinate nel 1988, quindi molto tempo fa. Prima costruivo reclinate corte, poi tricicli e bici da carico. Qualche anno fa sono passato a biciclette basse e lunghe con sterzo sottosella. Forse non sono le più aerodinamiche, ma sono maneggevoli e permettono di pedalare a lungo. Ho partecipato a due gare, una qualche anno fa a Meppen (Germania) e una ad Amsterdam. Sono riuscito a tenere il passo abbastanza bene, ma non sono un allenatore molto impegnato. Partecipo perché è divertente e mi piace incontrare altri ciclisti. Lavoro anche con le biciclette. Insieme al mio collega e amico olandese Willy Nijland, stiamo attualmente costruendo una fabbrica di biciclette elettriche da carico in Uganda, con corsi di formazione per i giovani che vogliono diventare meccanici di biciclette. Ecco perché la mia bici ha quel nome.
Cycling has always been my hobby, especially cycling technology. I started building recumbent bicycles in 1988, so a long time ago. First, I built short recumbents, then tricycles and cargo bikes. A few years ago, I switched to low and long bicycles with under-seat steering. Maybe they are not the most aerodynamic, but they are manageable and allow for long rides. I participated in two races, one a few years ago in Meppen (Germany) and one in Amsterdam. I managed to keep up quite well, but I am not a very dedicated trainer. I participate because it's fun and I like to meet other cyclists. I also work with bicycles. Together with my Dutch colleague and friend Willy Nijland, we are currently building an electric cargo bike factory in Uganda, with training courses for young people who want to become bicycle mechanics. That's why my bike has that name. |

Sono un atleta amatoriale che ha conosciuto le Recumbent in tenera età grazie alla passione del padre. Ho partecipato al Campionato Mondiale HPV 2011 come "under14". Adoro questi eventi perché permettono di poter utilizzare queste biciclette in condizioni di sicurezza lontano dai pericoli del traffico di tutti i giorni.
I ride a fairly rare mid-racer model with 22" wheels (20-451) later revised by Trevi-bike. I am an amateur athlete who got to know recumbents at a young age thanks to my father's passion. I participated in the 2011 HPV World Championship as an "under14". I love these events because they allow me to use these bicycles safely away from the dangers of everyday traffic. |

She discovered her passion for velomobiles in 2017, fascinated by the possibility of moving ecologically and efficiently. Since then, she has given up her car, thus helping to protect the environment and improve her physical fitness. For a long time, the sporting aspect remained secondary, until in 2023 she participated in her first world championship in Lustenau, achieving fourth place with the DF velomobile. I commuted by bicycle and now by tricycle to school and then throughout my working life. My father took me to my first club race at 17, and I have been a club cyclist ever since, which has included all aspects of cycling as a sport and pastime. In 2018, I reached 300,000 recorded miles on a bicycle, having started my registration in 1999 to become a member of the British 300,000 Mile Club. The club rules are that they must be recorded, not what you think you've done. In 2019, my commuting distance of 500 km per week was a significant part of my distance when I broke the UK Audax annual distance record with 36,401 km. This distance also included three long 1200 km brevets: Paris Brest Paris, Texas Hound Dog, and Geelong Flyer. I have competed on bicycles, tandems, upright tricycles, upright tandems, and recumbent tricycles. I rode the recumbent tricycle to compete in BHPC races, the longest of which lasted three days to get to Rhyl, Wales. On this trip, I included some tourism, collecting checks on the British Cycle Quest (sister program to the French BCN) while traveling to the races. |

Il noleggiatore mi ha detto che non poteva noleggiarmi una bicicletta reclinata quel fine settimana perché stava correndo i campionati del mondo a Orgelet, in Francia. Stranamente, mia sorella possiede una casa di campagna a Orgelet, così sono andato a casa sua e ho avuto l'opportunità di vedere tutte le possibili configurazioni di biciclette reclinate che passavano in fondo alla sua strada e di seguire la gara in un'atmosfera molto "bonaria" e amichevole. All'arrivo, il presentatore si è congratulato con un concorrente che aveva tagliato il traguardo, all'età di 82,5 anni, incredibile! Poco più avanti, uno dei vincitori mi ha offerto di provare la sua bicicletta reclinata... un Ice Trike. Pur avendo preso 10 chili e non avendo alcuna preparazione fisica, ho avuto la sensazione di tornare a 12 anni e di volare letteralmente via, è nata una nuova passione. Durante l'anno, ho noleggiato una bicicletta reclinata con batteria 3 volte e alla terza uscita ho percorso facilmente 100 km. Quando sono tornato la domenica successiva, il noleggiatore mi ha offerto la possibilità di partecipare ai campionati del mondo 2023. Non ho mai gareggiato e amo le sfide e mettermi alla prova. Quest'esperienza ha lasciato un segno indelebile nella mia mente e nel mio cuore. L'anno successivo sono riuscito ad acquistare un Trike Ice VTX e ho percorso 2000 km in un anno. Questo sport mi regala una gioia incomparabile e ringrazio le mie guide.
My story: From early childhood, I had an adventurous and adventurous spirit. At the age of 5, I started riding pedal karts and mountain bikes. Finding the idea appealing, I looked for a rental in Annecy, where I live. The renter told me he couldn't rent me a recumbent bike that weekend because he was racing the world championships in Orgelet, France. Strangely, my sister owns a country house in Orgelet, so I went to her place and had the opportunity to see all possible recumbent bike configurations passing at the end of her street and to follow the race in a very "bonhomie" and friendly atmosphere. At the finish line, the announcer congratulated a competitor who had crossed the finish line, at the age of 82.5, incredible! A little further on, one of the winners me has offered to try his recumbent bicycle... an Ice Trike. Despite having gained 10 kilos and having no physical preparation, I felt like I was 12 again and literally flying, a new passion was born. During the year, I rented a recumbent bicycle with a battery 3 times and on the third outing, I easily covered 100 km. When I returned the following Sunday, the renter offered me the chance to participate in the 2023 world championships. I have never competed and I love challenges and testing myself. This experience has left an indelible mark on my mind and heart. The year following I managed to buy an Ice VTX Trike and rode 2000 km in a year. This sport gives me incomparable joy and I thank my guides. |
