All You Need to Know About the HPV World Championships 2025
HPV World Championships 2025: Italy Takes Center Stage Again
Italy is preparing to host the HPV (Human Powered Vehicles) World Championships, an event eagerly awaited by human-powered vehicle enthusiasts from around the globe. The event is scheduled for July 11, 12, and 13, 2025, with three days of races winding through the picturesque locations of Meina, Arona, and Gattico-Veruno, nestled in the natural beauty of Lake Maggiore and the Novara hills.
The Return to Italy
Fourteen years after the first Italian World Championships, held in 2011 in Monza and organized by the Società Sportiva Propulsione Umana, Italy returns to the international stage with a renewed formula. While the Monza edition focused on the allure of the Formula 1 track, the 2025 edition will concentrate on road courses, highlighting the technical and scenic characteristics of the territory. Organized by ASD Velocità a Pedali, the event represents not only a high-level sporting competition but also a showcase to promote the tourist and cultural potential of the region.

Meina: The Heartbeat of the Event
Meina will be the true operational base of the HPV World Championships 2025. The municipal sports field will serve as headquarters for technical, logistical, and recreational activities. Athletes, teams, and enthusiasts will find all necessary services here: from technical and sporting checks to race pack distribution, and a wide range of accommodation solutions. Agreements with local hotels are planned, as well as dedicated camping spaces for those who prefer more informal, nature-immersed lodging. This centralized organization will ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for all participants and their companions.

An Action-Packed Program for the HPV Championships
The race calendar spans three days. However, it should be noted that the program is indicative and may be subject to changes.

Useful Information for Participants of the HPV World Championships
Registrations will close on Sunday, July 6, 2025, one week before the event begins. Technical checks will tentatively take place from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM on July 11th at the Meina sports field. A free camping area is available behind the grandstand for the entire duration of the event; further details are in the dedicated section on the site. Participant safety is a priority: an equipped ambulance and qualified medical personnel will be present during the event. Finally, we are working to define reserved parking areas for participants and teams in Meina, near the sports field and event venues; a detailed map will be published online as soon as available. We invite you to regularly check for updates.
Numerous side events are being planned to enrich the Championship experience. These include moments dedicated to discovering the territory, such as scenic group rides through the area's natural beauty, and meetings with guests, experts in sustainable mobility, and innovation.
Additionally, cultural and convivial activities are being defined, such as conferences on ecology and sustainability, to encourage exchange between participants and the public, and other initiatives aimed at creating an atmosphere of sharing and fun.
The detailed program is being finalized, and any updates will be communicated in due course through our official channels (website and social media) to ensure a pleasant and engaging experience for all participants and spectators.
The Locations: Jewels Between Lake and Hills
Meina: The Heart of the Event
Meina, often called the "town of villas," is a municipality located on the Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore, at the mouth of the Tiasca stream. This charming tourist resort is known for its splendid nineteenth-century villas and its characteristic village.
Arona: Between History and Modernity
Arona is a town overlooking Lake Maggiore, known for its lively historic center and panoramic lakefront. Among the main attractions is the statue of San Carlo Borromeo, the second tallest visitable statue in the world after the Statue of Liberty, offering a breathtaking panoramic view. The city also boasts numerous historic villas and gardens, a testament to its rich past. It also has a port that allows boats to navigate Lake Maggiore, up to Switzerland.
Gattico-Veruno: Among Hills and Traditions
Gattico-Veruno is a municipality located in the Novara hills, characterized by rural landscapes and a strong food and wine tradition. The territory is dotted with ancient churches, such as the Pieve di San Martino, and offers nature trails ideal for nature lovers.
An Unmissable Opportunity
The HPV World Championships 2025 aims not only to be a high-level sporting competition and a celebration of technological innovation but also aspires to become an event capable of uniting enthusiasts, the curious, and new explorers of the world of human-powered vehicles.
In Italy, this sector still represents a niche, with extraordinary vehicles like recumbent bicycles and velomobiles remaining little known to the general public, who are mostly tied to the traditional idea of a bicycle. Moreover, even conventional bicycles struggle to be considered a true means of transport, penalized by a culture that favors the automobile.
This event, therefore, does not wish to limit itself to promoting a unique sports discipline but aims to raise public awareness on fundamental issues for a more sustainable, human-scale future, not one dominated by motor vehicles. It is a rare and precious opportunity to highlight not only the beauty of these innovative vehicles (and places) but also to spark a dialogue on the mobility of tomorrow, combining technology, ecology, and passion in an engaging, all-around experience.
